The story starts with pretty awful folk singer who moves from Ottawa to a bachelors apartment in Vancouver to hone his craft. Here he starts to demo songs, call up friends, and see his effort form into the foundations of new band, Old Crowns.

It seems like SXSW is seeping into every corner of the music world right now. Okay, so maybe I’m exaggerating just a bit, but many bands I’ve run into recently are also playing SXSW this year. I’d like to think that it’s because I have exceptionally great taste in music, but I’m more inclined to believe that it’s because there are a ton of worthy bands getting the press they deserve. This leads me to the Mexican band Yokozuna.
