Thanks to the blog Super 45, I had the opportunity to learn about the Chilean singer/songwriter known as Gepe. (His real name is Daniel Riveros). Gepe hails from Santiago where he has been called the "new ‘guru’ of Chilean folk." Gepe also has a style that includes elements of indie pop and electronic. On his newest track Window, which you can hear below, he also incorporates some hip hop.
According to Super 45, Window is a preview of the new sound and direction Gepe will be taking on his forthcoming release, Audiovision. For the sake of comparison, I’ve also included the video for his earlier song, Namas. I personally like Window better, but I do understand why the new direction might be a shock to long time fans. At this time, there is no set release date for Audiovision, but I will let you know as soon as I find out. Until then, enjoy Window and Namas:
